Competition proposal
Lomma Municipality

Gränsland brings Bjärred and Borgeby closer together and allows the two communities to meet in an elongated park that connects the surrounding green areas, forming the backbone of the new neighborhood. The proposal is based on the existing division of fields, thus creating a bridge between the past and present, between agricultural and knowledge-based societies. The plan takes advantage of the existing characteristics of the site and creates a clear, legible, and dense structure that naturally connects Bjärred, Borgeby, and the surrounding green spaces, facilitating movement and exchange between the new district and its surroundings. Its compact nature allows the area north of Domedelja Mosse to remain completely undeveloped. This way, valuable agricultural land is preserved, while the land can serve as a reserve for future expansion if necessary.

Gränsland creates a wide variety of spatial qualities and living environments within a well-organized structure. Special care has been taken to create high-quality ground-level housing that fosters lively streets and becomes an asset to the neighborhood. Terraced houses, duplex apartments, high ground floors, and private outdoor spaces help turn what is often a weakness in densely built areas into a strength.
