Filt is a generous and permissive platform for life in public spaces. Like a picnic blanket on a lawn, it creates a place, a sense of togetherness. It is free for everyone to use in whatever way suits them, based on trust in people’s inherent creativity and good intentions. In terms of form, “Filt” seeks a neutral expression: to be a background and support for activity rather than an object to be admired. A democratic everyday piece of outdoor furniture.

A platform made of steel and wood; a steel tube that can be equipped with a range of accessories— a table, a light fixture, a paper bin; several loops for hanging or attaching items; adjustable legs. That’s all. A robust form made from durable materials well-suited for a long life in the service of the public.

The simple form and open function make it easy to place in public spaces of various sizes and characteristics. However, it is most effective in situations where the shared space is allowed to spread out: in a square, a park, on the beach, or on a schoolyard.
